'Mean Magazine' Interview Excerpts

On her lack of sleep as a new mother:
“I remember turning up on the set of Pearl Harbor and all the boys had been to boot camp and I had a 14-month-old baby, and had been told that I had to be in the gym four hours a day. On top of the not sleeping and all this physical activity, the boys kept saying, ‘Wow, it was so tough, you have no idea.’ I remember thinking to myself, ‘You went for five days, I haven’t slept in 14 months. You want to go toe to toe?' "
On the inspiration for high heels:
“Apparently, during orgasm, a woman’s feet move like this [makes tiptoe gesture], and that’s the reason they invented high heels. So next time you’re having an orgasm, pay attention to your feet and you’ll see.”
On the responsibilities of being a mother:
“Babies show up as themselves. I really do believe you can f*** a person up terribly by being a bad parent, but they arrive kind of 80 percent baked, and that 20 percent is crucial, but they do show up with personality."
On the appeal of raw food: “I can’t do raw. I can’t do sushi, even. Anything that has that vaginal quality to it. I’d rather an actual vagina than that, honestly."
On 9-year-old daughter Lily:
"She's into 'Hannah Montana' -- and The Beatles, which I'm happy about. And anything medical she's kind of interested in. She's pretty cool. She likes Joan Crawford movies ... she's been around too many gay men! [Also,] she really does have the exact same [British] accent I do, which is amazing because she's been in school in America now for four or five years. The first day she went, she came back furious, and said, 'Why does everyone keep looking at me and why are they telling me I sound like Harry Potter and who is Harry Potter and why are they telling me I sound like a boy?' And then she figured out it was kind of cool, and she worked it. [laughs]

Kate In 'Mean Magazine'

"good evening! actress kate beckinsale is gracing the new cover of mean magazine (there sure are a lot of magazines out there - if it weren't for blogging i wouldn't know half of 'em) she's posing as new wave french cinema actress anna karina (who is still alive at age 67) there's a video the magazine whipped up that shows ms. beckinsale's photo shoot mixed up with footage of ms. karina in the 1967 french film anna (with music from serge gainsbourg) kate is also starring in a new film that released this past weekend called snow angels which looks like a pretty intense drama/mystery - i'm so falling behind on my new year's resolution - i need to get myself to the movies more...if i could just stop playing video games! right now i'm all about super smash bros. brawl on the wii which hit stores today - i can't stop playing it! getting back to ms. beckinsale for a minute - i'm still getting a chuckle over her quote from last week about her lady bits being sacred like a pharoah's tomb - she certainly takes her pussy seriously! (although that quote would have packed more punch back in the day when all the tombs were still free from exploring & pillaging!) tomorrow it's back to the grind but i hope everyone had a swell weekend - i'm totally bummed about losing an hour of sleep but the extra bit of daylight will be worth it! popbytes over & out for tonight...xxoo! "

As I'm sure you'll agree, Kate looks friggen gorgeous in this shoot. And I'm not the least bit surprised Kate was choosen. She really does have an old school Hollywood essence to her. Not to mention, she did play Ava Gardner. ;-)

Allure Excerpts
This one's for you, Alice.
"I've only ever had about three boyfriends. Only a handful of people have seen into the Pharaoh's Tomb... My best feature is unfortunately a private matter, although I'm told it is spectacular. But you can't really walk it down the red carpet. What can I say?"
Other highlights include quotes about her work:
"Acting requires so much delving into yourself and exposing yourself, so it's sensible to be wondering, Do I still want to be doing this? But I enjoy the work, and everything is so solid at home. I don't care if they say I've had buttock implants. Or not. I don't care. Go ahead! That's the nice thing about getting to the age I am. I could have said I didn't care before--but secretly I did. And now I really don't."
Considering quitting acting to become a doctor:
"I was at the point where I was wondering whether the work I was doing was sustaining me intellectually. I'd had enough of the ludicrous questions. Like, 'Have you had your boobs done?' or 'Have you slept with Colin Farrell?'"
Struggling with her career:
"I sort of ended up in Los Angeles by accident. And it was sort of terrible to be jostled into this position of a fame-hungry starlet. Which is so honestly not me! In fact, I could use a bit more of that because I am such a hermit! So I allowed myself to get really bothered."
Husband Len:
"I have a husband who literally worships me. And cleans the house. And blow-dries my daughter's hair."

Kate Does Allure!
Kate Beckinsale showed off some smoky eyes and sexy wind-blown hair for the March issue of Allure. She's got a new movie called Snow Angels coming out next month, but quirky Kate was more interested in talking about her early struggles in the industry and how she's risen to her current level of success. Here are highlights:

On her job: "Acting requires so much delving into yourself and exposing yourself, so it's sensible to be wondering, Do I still want to be doing this? But I enjoy the work, and everything is so solid at home. I don't care if they say I've had buttock implants. Or not. I don't care. Go ahead! That's the nice thing about getting to the age I am. I could have said I didn't care before—but secretly I did. And now I really don't."
On considering quitting acting to become a doctor: "I was at the point where I was wondering whether the work I was doing was sustaining me intellectually. I'd had enough of the ludicrous questions. Like, 'Have you had your boobs done?' or 'Have you slept with Colin Farrell?'"
On struggling with her career: "I sort of ended up in Los Angeles by accident. And it was sort of terrible to be jostled into this position of a fame-hungry starlet. Which is so honestly not me! In fact, I could use a bit more of that because I am such a hermit! So I allowed myself to get really bothered."

On her husband, Len Wiseman: "I have a husband who lit-erally worships me. And cleans the house. And blow-dries my daughter's hair."
Sounds like Kate made the right decision when she decided to stick with acting instead of switching over to the medical field, an idea that she had toyed with. Being a movie star with a hot husband who is also into hairstyling sounds like a pretty sweet deal to us.

Cat On Fire!
The actress was preparing for the awards ceremony on Sunday night (27Jan08) when her cat, Clive, became engulfed in flames after burning himself on a candle.
But Beckinsale did eventually make it to the awards with husband Len Wiseman to present Alec Baldwin with his award for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Comedy Series in 30 Rock.
She tells People.com, "Our cat caught fire on a candle. As I was getting ready, there was like 'whoosh' a fireball and he went up like a rocket.
"(The cat) is fine. He had no idea. It was awful"

Kate: Top 25 Sexiest HW Stars
Of course, I think she should be #1, but there's still much reason to rejoyce. ;)
Excerpts:
Angelina Jolie has topped a list of the 100 Sexiest Movie Stars Ever.
Angelina claimed the prestigious title because of her "pneumatic figure, feline eyes and lips that could have been stung by several hives of bees".
She narrowly beat Natalie Portman, who finished in second position after "making baldness sexy" in 'V for Vendetta' and setting men's pulses racing with her raunchy pole dancing scene in 'Closer'.
James Bond actor Daniel Craig - who wowed women in 'Casino Royale' when he emerged from the ocean in a pair of tight-fitting blue swimming trunks - came third, while 'Fantastic Four' beauty Jessica Alba finished fourth.
'Pirates of the Caribbean' star Johnny Depp rounded off the top five.
Other entries on the list, which was voted for by 20,000 film fans, included Matt Damon - who was recently voted People magazine's Sexiest Man Alive for 2007 - who took 17th spot.
British stars Christian Bale, Kate Winslet, Orlando Bloom, Kate Beckinsale and Clive Owen all made it in to the top 25, with 'Harry Potter' actor Daniel Radcliffe coming in at 23.
'Volver' actress Penelope Cruz took 50th position and the entire list was rounded off by 'Die Hard 4.0' actress Mary Elizabeth Winstead.
